"On The Rocks", written, produced and narrated by Pippa Breakspear and directed by TJ Martin, is a docu-drama about drug and alcohol addiction, incarceration, treatment and recovery. Interviews with addicts and alcoholics provided the material for the monologues which are accompanied by conversations with members from the Criminal Justice and Treatment systems addressing the issues from his/her perspective. The film examines the physiology of addiction and its consequences, current US drug laws and policies and effective, and evidence-based treatment protocols. The film is aimed at a broad audience via distribution to universities, community colleges, high schools, public health departments, film festivals and other interested community venues nationwide.
